Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Coca-Cola Amatil Limited (“CCA”), a North Sydney, New South Wales establishment and now part of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, recalls certain batch/lots of Appletiser branded Sparkling Apple Juice from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Patulin Mycotoxin contamination and consequential risks of severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Apple Juice products are subject to this recall:

  • Coca-Cola Appletiser Sparkling Apple Juice, packaged in 750 mL glass bottles with a batch/lot of BA2 HH:MM 154, a best-before date code of BB 01 JUN 22 or BB 02 JUN 22, a TUN designation of 10000094304210 and a barcode number of 94304213

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Coca-Cola Appletiser Sparkling Apple Juice products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in Coles stores in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania; Woolworths stores in Victoria; as well as Foodworks and IGA stores in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, although it is always possible these beverage products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to microbial contamination, specifically Mycotoxin Patulin. Food products containing Mycotoxin Patulin may cause illness if consumed. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Coca-Cola Appletiser Sparkling Apple Juice products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Apple Drink products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Mycotoxin – Patulin poisoning.
