Canada/Ottawa: Décathlon Canada Inc., a Brossard, Quebec establishment, recalls an estimated 2,711 Oxelo branded 3-Wheel Children’s Scooters from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Barium Sulfate in excess of the allowable limit under the Canadian Toys Regulations and consequential risks of stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, weakness, pale skin, sweating and ringing in the ears, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Children’s Scooters are subject to this recall:

  • Oxelo B1 500 Children’s Scooters – White-Mint V2 model, comprising of 3-wheel scooters for children 80 cm to 1.20 m tall with light-up wheels, painted predominantly white with purple handles, a mint green stand and pink wheels with a model code of 8602928/8502694
  • Oxelo B1 500 Children’s Scooters – Blue-Red V2 model, comprising of 3-wheel scooters for children 80 cm to 1.20 m tall with light-up wheels, painted predominantly white with orange handles, a purple stand and pink wheels with a model code of 8602927/8502693

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Children’s Scooters are thought to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces although it is always possible these Scooters had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, Décathlon Canada Inc has recalled an estimated 2711 Oxelo 3-Wheel Children’s Scooters from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Barium Sulfate in excess of the allowable limit under the Canadian Toys Regulations.

Beside the symptoms listed above, Barium Sulfate can also cause hives, itching, red skin, swelling or tightening of the throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, hoarseness, agitation, confusion, Tachycardia (fast heartbeat) and/or bluish skin color.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Children’s Scooters, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Barium Sulfate poisonings.
