Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Nourish Foods Pty Ltd. trading as Whole Kids, a Melbourne, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Whole Kids Smoothie Drop Candy Confectionery from the Australian marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards/situations requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Candy Products are subject to this recall:

  • Whole Kids Smoothie Drops Candy – Berry, Banana and Coconut Milk, sold in 20 gram foil stand-up pouches; affected batch/lots: all best-before dates up to 12/08/2022 with a barcode/APN of 19336269002539

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Whole Kids Smoothie Drops were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in major Australian retailers including Woolworths, Coles, Big W and local grocers nationally, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Whole Kids has recalled certain batch/lots of Whole Kids Smoothie Drop Confectionery from the Australian marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Confectionery products identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Whole Kids Smoothie Drop Candy, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.
