Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Leaf Parsley products are subject to this recall:

  • Buurma Farms Plain Flat Leaf Parsley, sold in 30-count cartons or 60-count cartons with a harvest date of August 30, 2021, a batch/lot code of 2A242A6, a PTI lot code of 2B243A6, a PLU number of 4901 and a UPC of 33383 80125

The Leaf Parsley was sold and shipped in 30-count cartons to retailers in Michigan and Ohio between the dates of 8/31/21 and 9/3/21, and sold in 60-count crates to wholesalers in Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York and South Carolina between the dates of 9/2/21 and 9/4/21.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Buurma Farms Plain Flat Leaf Parsley can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Leaf Parsley products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold to retailers in Michigan and Ohio as well as to wholesalers in Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York and South Carolina, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Please note that individual bunches of Flat Parsley sold to retailers for purchase by consumers would likely have “BUURMA FARMS Plain Parsley” twist-ties with a price look-up (“PLU”) code of 4901 and a UPC of 33383 80125. The PLU and UPC numbers are not unique to Buurma Farms and would be on all Flat Plain Parsley regardless of manufacturer. The wholesale distribution channels involved in the recall do not have the twist-tie and instead have only a plain red rubber band on the bunch.

==> For information about E. Coli Poisoning, please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Buurma Farms Plain Flat Leaf Parsley, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Parsley to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Shiga-toxin producing Escherichia coli (“E.coli”).
