Additional information:

Among the one-hundred-and-fourteen (114) recalls the NHTSA announced in August came news of the following:

Logo - Jaguar Land Rover North America,Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (“Land Rover”), a Mahwah, New Jersey establishment and a subsidiary of Tata Motors of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, has recalled an estimated 7,027 model year 2020-2021 Land Rover Defender Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment, Child Seat – Incorrect Child Restraint Information in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 225

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V584000 reports the Owner’s Manual incorrectly states that the Third-Row Seating is equipped with LATCH Child Seat Restraints with Top Tethers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, “Child Restraint Anchorage Systems.”

According to the NHTSA, incorrect Child Restraint information may result in a Child Seat being improperly secured, which can increase the risk of injury in a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
