US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, issues a Public Health Alert for certain ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Italian Recipe Meat and Cheese Snack Trays that contain Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) regulated Breadsticks. These Breadsticks may have been recalled by their producer, Jag Specialty Foods, due to suspected cross-contact contamination and consequential undeclared Sesame, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Meat and Cheese Snack Trays are subject to this Public Health Alert:

  • Italian Recipe Meat and Cheese Snack Trays made with Genoa Salami, Provolone Cheese & Breadsticks, sold in three (3)-ounce plastic packages with a sell-by date of 12/30/2021 and a batch/lot number of 897
  • Italian Recipe Meat and Cheese Snack Trays made with Prosciutto, Provolone Cheese & Breadsticks, sold in three (3)-ounce plastic packages with a sell-by date of 12/30/2021 and a batch/lot number of 897

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Italian Recipe Meat and Cheese Snack Trays can be found on the Web site above.

These Breadsticks, Meat And Cheese Trays were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, it has issued a Public Health Alert for certain ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Italian Recipe Meat and Cheese Snack Trays that contain Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) regulated Breadsticks. These Breadsticks may have been recalled by the producer, Jag Specialty Foods, due to suspected cross-contact contamination and consequential undeclared Sesame.

The Health Alert was issued after Daniele International observed that Breadsticks received from Jag Specialty Foods that do not contain sesame were co-mingled with Sesame Breadsticks and Sesame Seeds and notified their supplier and the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”).

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these Italian Recipe Meat and Cheese Snack Trays products and could be allergic to their Sesame ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
