Aigostar branded 6 Uscite Multipresa Schuko Power Strips packaged with model designations of S11 and P17/11, and a barcode/EAN of 8433325186739. This recall alert was submitted by Italy to the EU Safety Gateway.

These Aigostar branded 6 Uscite Multipresa Schuko Power Strip products are marketed, sold and delivered as consumer-grade indoor electrical accessories suitable for family and/or home use to extend the physical range of an electrical circuit. As well, the Power Strips can multiply the number of available plug outlets for connecting additional electrical devices that would otherwise not be available from a standard outlet.

In the case, the recalled Power Strip has six (6) sockets as well as an integrated cable lead of approximately three (3) meters in length, a maximum electrical rating of 2500 watts at 16 Amps/250 volts~. The Aigostar branded 6 Uscite Multipresa Schuko Power Strips can be found at retail heat-sealed in clear plastic bags, each with a blue and white cardboard header.

No manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards presented in these recalled Aigostar branded 6 Uscite Multipresa Schuko Power Strip products include the reported finding that the live pin holes of the electrical sockets do not automatically shutter when a plug is not inserted. As a direct consequence, two (2) hazards have been identified:

    1. Water or other liquids could easily enter the device and create a short circuit, posing risks of electrical shock and/or burns and/or fires
    2. A person, especially a child, could insert a metal object into live socket, posing risks of electrical shock and/or burns

Due to these defects, the recalled Aigostar branded 6 Uscite Multipresa Schuko Power Strip products do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Low Voltage Directive as well as the relevant national standard in Italy.
