US FlagUS/Washington: The TJX Companies Inc., a Framingham, Massachusetts establishment, recalls an estimated 4,300 TJX Swivel Counter Stools from the American marketplace due to suspected structural collapse hazard and consequential risks of falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Swivel Counter Stools with wooden legs and fabric backrests with rivet trim around the seat marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • The HomeGoods & Homesense Swivel Counter Stools were sold in two (2) styles: gray faux leather and a dark gray/blue/cream herringbone fabric. Each of the recalled Stools measures approximately 36 inches from the floor to the top of the Stool’s backrest, and the seat height is approximately 25.5 inches from the floor. One of the following style numbers can be found printed on the Stool’s product hang tag: 61057, 61063, 61064, 62332, 65129, 65130, 66413 or 66414 and a country-of-origin label can be found attached to the bottom of the seat with the word, “CHINA” printed on it.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Swivel Counter Stools can break or collapse, posing fall and injury hazards to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use. TJX has received twenty (20) reports of Stools breaking while in use and causing a sudden fall. Of these incidents, there were seventeen (17) reports of minor injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Swivel Counter Stools sold at HomeGoods, Homesense stores or HomeGoods/T.J. Maxx or Marshalls combination stores US nationwide, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
