Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Patties Foods Pty Ltd, a Mentone, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Leggo’s Fresh Napoli Sauce with Tomato, Garlic, Basil & Oregano from the Australian marketplace due to suspected plastic and/or metal fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health hazards requiring immediate medical attention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Pasta Sauce products are subject to this recall:

  • Leggo’s Fresh Napoli Sauce with Tomato, Garlic, Basil & Oregano, packaged in 250 gram plastic tubs with a batch/lot designation of 2107151296 and a use-by date of 02/10/2021

==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Pasta Sauce products are thought to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Patties Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Leggo’s Fresh Napoli Sauce with Tomato, Garlic, Basil & Oregano from the Australian marketplace due to suspected plastic and/or metal fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Pasta Sauce products identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Leggo’s Fresh Napoli Sauce with Tomato, Garlic, Basil & Oregano, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the Sauce product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and/or bowel obstruction.
