Additional information:

Among the ninety-eight (98) recalls the NHTSA announced in July, came news of the following:

Logo - General Motors LLCGeneral Motors LLC (“GM”), a Detroit, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 7,199 model year 2021 GMC Canyon Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Incorrect Load Carrying Capacity Label in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 110

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V497000 reports the load carrying capacity printed on the Tire and Loading Information placard is 22.5 kilograms (~51 pounds) more than intended. As such, the recalled Pickup Trucks fail to comply with the requirements of the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.”

According to the NHTSA, an incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the Pickup Truck, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
