Among the eighty-nine (89) recalls the NHTSA announced in July, comes news of the following:

Logo - Nissan North America, Inc.Nissan North America, Inc. (“Nissan”), a Franklin, Tennessee establishment and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company of Yokohama, Japan has recalled an estimated 13,215 model year 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Structure – Liftgate Hinges can separate in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 206

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V525000 reports the Liftgate Hinges can separate from the vehicle during a rear end crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 206, “Door Locks and Door Retention Components.”

According to the NHTSA, separated Hinges compromise the protection offered by the Liftgate, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
