Among the sixty-eight (68) recalls the NHTSA announced in July, comes news of the following:

Logo - Wayfarer by TiffinWayfarer by Tiffin Motorhomes, a Winfield, Alabama establishment and subsidiary of Thor Industries, of Elkhart, Indiana, has recalled an estimated 1,861 model year 2017-2021 Wayfarer Recreational Vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Tires – Valve Stem Extender may rub against Wheel Liner

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V514000 reports the Valve Stem Extender may rub against the Wheel Liner, causing damage to the Valve Stem.

According to the NHTSA, a Damaged Valve Stem can cause a sudden loss of Tire pressure, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Registered Wayfarer Recreational Vehicles owners will be instructed to remove the Wheel Liners, free of charge. Wayfarer is working to develop a final remedy that allows the Liners to be reinstalled. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Wayfarer Customer Service at 1-256-356-8661 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Wayfarer’s designation for this recall is WAY-100.
