Additional information:
Among the sixty-eight (68) recalls the NHTSA announced in July, comes news of the following:
Winnebago Industries, Inc. (“Winnebago”), a Forest City, Iowa establishment, has recalled an estimated 1,566 model year 2021-2022 Winnebago Solis, Winnebago Travato and Winnebago Ekko Motorhomes equipped with GE-ES Double Flipseats marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Seat Belts – Seat Belt Retractor may lock in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 208 and FMVSS 209
NHTSA Safety Notification 21V480000 reports the Seat Belt Retractors may lock up when the vehicle is on a slight incline. As such, these seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards numbers 208, “Occupant Crash Protection” and 209, “Seat Belt Assemblies.”
According to the NHTSA, if the Seat Belt Retractor locks, a passenger may believe they are trapped in the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. In addition, a malfunction in the Seat Belt Retractor may interfere with the device’s proper operation in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
