Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Coloured Finger Torches are subject to this recall:

  • Glowstix Novelty Coloured Finger Torches, consisting of several plastic LED finger torches, each containing three (3) non-lithium button batteries

==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Novelty Coloured Finger Torches were known to be marketed, distributed and sold by at least four (4) unspecified schools in Australia although it is always possible these watches had wider distribution throughout the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the products’ design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Finger Torches can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, the button battery compartment of the recalled Novelty Coloured Finger Torches may not be adequately secured and the batteries may be easily accessible. If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death. In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.

If you believe you or your children have purchased or have in your possession any the recalled Finger Torches, please do not let your children use them or play with them. Instead, kindly remove the Torches from the children and return the devices to the school office for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, burns, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.

==> Small “button” batteries pose special ingestion risks to small children. All devices using them in the home or school should be closely examined and monitored for any breakage or other unintended access that could allow these batteries to be swallowed or otherwise ingested.
