Among the one-hundred (100) recalls the NHTSA announced in June, came news of the following:

Logo - Daimler Vans USA, LLCDaimler Vans USA, LLC (“DVUSA”), a Centennial, Colorado establishment and a subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 4,078 model year 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter Vans equipped with Swivel Seats marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System, Air Bags – Front Seat Wiring Harnesses routed incorrectly

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V410000 reports the Wiring Harnesses for the Front Seats may have been routed incorrectly and could become jammed and damaged in the Swivel Seat Frames.

According to the NHTSA, damage to the Wiring Harness can prevent the Side Air Bag within the seat to deploy inadvertently or not deploy as designed, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
