Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: The Custom Baby, a Brendale, Queensland establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Customisable Dummy Chain and Teether Sets from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Babies Dummies and Dummy Chains) Safety Standard 2017’, with consequential risks of asphyxiation, choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Customisable Dummy Chain and Teether Sets for infants are subject to this recall:

  • The Custom Baby Customisable Dummy Chain and Teether Sets, marketed, sold and delivered in sixteen (16) different designs and 8 colours

==> No barcodes, APNs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Customisable Dummy Chain and Teether Sets are thought to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, The Custom Baby has recalled certain batch/lots of Customisable Dummy Chain and Teether Sets from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Babies Dummies and Dummy Chains) Safety Standard 2017’. Specifically, the Dummy Chain may get caught around an infant/child’s throat and pose a strangulation hazard.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Dummy Chain and Teether Sets, please do not let your child play with or near the Customisable Dummy Chain and Teether Sets. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or online outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.
