US NHTSA Recalls: Heartland RV Travel Trailers

Among the eighty-six (86) recalls the NHTSA announced this June, comes news of the following:

Logo - Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLCHeartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (“Heartland”), an Elkhart, Indiana establishment, has recalled an estimated 2,486 model year 2021 Heartland Mallard, Heartland Wilderness, Heartland Trail Runner and 2020-2021 Heartland North Trail Trailers marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Outside Cooktop Gas Lines not tightened properly

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V453000 reports the Liquid Propane (“LP”) Gas Lines may not have been tightened properly on the Outside Cooktops. If this defect occurs, it could result in a gas leak.

According to the NHTSA, a gas leak can increase the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, scalds, blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Authorized Heartland RV Dealers will inspect and tighten the LP gas lines, and test the Propane System for leaks, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 17, 2021. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032.
