Thai Best Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Searay Foods Inc., a Richmond, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Thai Best branded Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp products and unbranded Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp products from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Sulphites (Sulfites), a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Tiger Shrimp products are subject to this recall:

  • Thai Best branded Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp – Raw Headless Shell-on, packaged in Size 16-20, four (4) pound bags by 6 packs with a production date of 2021/01/05, a best-before date of 2023/01/05, a batch/lot number of 2012042THL and sold to HRI / Retail in British Columbia with an outer box UPC of 10827510097484 and an inner box UPC of 8 27510 00483 6
  • Thai Best branded or unbranded Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp – Raw Headless Shell-on, sold in variable weight packages as clerk-served offerings up to and including June 17, 2021 at the following retailers in British Columbia:
    • Hanahreum Mart Inc, 1780-4151 Hazelbridge Way, Richmond BC
    • New Pacific Supermarket Ltd, 1056-1163 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam, BC
    • New Empire Supermarket Ltd., 111-4600 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC
    • SY Farm Market, 2438 East Hastings, Vancouver, BC
    • Wah Shang Seafood, 232-2800 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC
    • Wah Shang Supermarket, 8108 Park Road, Richmond, BC

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Black Tiger Shrimp products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Searay Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Thai Best branded or unbranded Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp products from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Sulphites (Sulfites).

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Thai Best branded or unbranded Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp products and could be allergic to their Sulphite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
