Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Aussie Baby Products Pty Ltd., a Villawood, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Kids Tricycles with Parent Handles from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to have integrated safety features as required under Australia’s mandatory standard Consumer Product Safety Standard for Prams and Strollers (Consumer Protection Notice No 8 of 2007, as amended on 14 February 2019) and consequential risks of laceration, concussion, bone fracture and central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Kids Tricycles are subject to this recall:

  • Aussie Baby Products Kids Tricycles, made available for sale in blue or pink colours

==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Kids Tricycles with Parent Handles were reportedly marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states although it is always possible these children’s sport products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Kids Tricycles design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Kids Tricycles can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, the recalled Kids Tricycles have some of the features of a stroller, but are unsafe for use as a stroller to transport children as they do not have the safety features required under Australia’s mandatory standard “Consumer Product Safety Standard for Prams and Strollers (Consumer Protection Notice No 8 of 2007, as amended on 14 February 2019)”. Specifically, the products do not have working brakes, safety tethers and the required safety labelling for parents or other caregivers to properly use the device in a safe manner.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission reports that if used as a stroller to transport children, the recalled Kids Tricycles may cause serious injury to a child if the product rolls in an uncontrolled manner or if the child falls out of the Tricycle.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kids Tricycles, please do not use them or let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund or replacement.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat laceration, concussion, bone fracture and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) damage.
