US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Briggs & Stratton, a Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, establishment recalls an estimated total 19,992 of YTL, Longli and TIYA Log Splitters with Briggs & Stratton Engines (approximately 19,630 in the US and approximately 362 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to reported unintended start and engine kick-back with consequential risks of laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain YTL, Longli and TIYA Log Splitters powered by Briggs & Stratton engines, as follows:

  • YTL, Longli and TIYA Log Splitters powered by Briggs & Stratton 250cc engine model number 15T232-0011-F8, with serial numbers 160331883074 through 2012073736714, and model number 15T232-1850-F1, with serial numbers 2004260782583 through 2012284118417. The engine’s model number is printed on the valve cover and the engine’s serial number is printed on the Blower Housing Cover. The recalled Log Splitters were sold under the following brands:
    • Black Diamond Log Splitters, model number BDBS32T – 32 ton and YTL-015-134 – 30 ton
    • Crimson Log Splitters, model number YTL-590-012 – 32 ton
    • Lumberjack Log Splitters, model number YTL-007-414
    • Performance Built Log Splitters, model number YTL-007-308 and YTL-016-476 – 30 ton
    • Brute Log Splitters, model number YTL-140-701 – 30 ton and YTL-140-473 – 35 ton
    • Country Pro Log Splitters, model number YTL-019-880
    • Boss Log Splitters, model number WD32T
    • Oregon Log Splitters 3000 Series – 30 ton

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, an incorrect Engine Ignition Coil and Flywheel can lead to hard starting and engine kick-back, posing an injury hazard to the operator including consequential risks of falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Log Splitters, please do not use it. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
