Among the fifty-eight (58) recalls the NHTSA announced this June, comes news of the following:

Logo - Chrysler (FCA US LLC)Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 21V439000 model year 2019-2020 RAM 3500, 4500 and 5500 Truck Cab Chassis equipped with a Cummins 6.7L High Output engine marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Engine and Engine Cooling – Engine Calibration may not warn of low oil volume

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V439000 reports the Engine Calibration Software may not warn about low oil volume.

According to the NHTSA, low oil can damage the Engine, causing an oil leak or a punctured Engine Block, increasing the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

Chrysler RAM==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, scalds, blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Authorized Chrysler Dealers will update the Engine Calibration Software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 30, 2021. FCA US LLC’s designation for this recall is Y21.
