UK FlagIreland FlagUK/London & Ireland/Dublin: The Family Butchers Germany GmbH, a Versmold, Germany establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Reinert Teddy Bear Sausage Slices from the British marketplace due to suspected metal fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Sausage Slices are subject to recall:

  • Reinert Teddy Bear Sausage Slices, sold in 115 gram packages with use-by date codes up to and including 05 July 2021

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, The Family Butchers Germany GmbH has recalled certain batch/lots of Reinert Teddy Bear Sausage Slices from the British marketplace due to suspected metal fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sausage Slices identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

Please note: it is thought these Reinert Teddy Bear Sausage products were sold exclusively in Lidl stores in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Reinert Teddy Bear Sausage Slices, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Sausage Slices to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration.
