These Milk Powder Formula products are thought to be have marketed, distributed and sold in all US states from the company’s Web site although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. If you are concerned about distribution outside the United States, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (“FFDCA”) defines Infant Formula as “a food which purports to be or is represented for special dietary use solely as a food for infants by reason of its simulation of human milk or its suitability as a complete or partial substitute for human milk” (FFDCA 201(z)). FDA regulations define infants as persons not more than 12 months old.

All Infant Formulas marketed and sold in the United States must meet the requirements of the US Infant Formula Act (section 412 of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act). Despite their packaging, Designed by Nature Milk Powder Formulas are NOT intended or approved for infants. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Milk Powder products identified above as a milk substitute to any infant, defined as a person 12 months of age and younger.

In addition to being deficient in multiple nutrients required for Infant Formula, the recalled Milk Powder Formulas products have not been tested for the presence of Cronobacter, a pathogen that can be particularly dangerous to infants. This testing is required for all powdered infant formula products sold within the United States.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer or online outlet for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Milk Powder Formulas, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Milk Powder to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Cronobacter and/or nutritional deficiencies.
