Big Game Hunters Mud Kitchens Children's Toys Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: DOM Enterprises & Mfg. Ltd. as known as DOM Sports, a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls an estimated total of 187 total Big Game Hunters Mud Kitchen Children’s Toys from the Canadian marketplace due to the reported presence of Lead in excess of allowable limits under Canadian regulation and consequential risks of poisoning, reproductive impairment and/or developmental abnormalities, all serious health and safety hazards.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Children’s Toys are subject to this recall:

  • Product 1: Big Game Hunters branded Single Mud Kitchen Children’s Toys, sold with a product code 391 and a UPC of 5035874001476. Affected products were purchased by and shipped prior to January 1, 2021.
    • The Single Mud Kitchen (also known as “Mud Kitchen”) is a children’s outdoor play kitchen made of untreated/unpainted natural wood and with a plastic wash tub, plastic water dispenser, pretend stove, slide out counter and a brass water tap (to attach a garden hose). The Single Mud Kitchen was packaged in brown cardboard packaging (two boxes in total) with Big Game Hunters branding.
  • Product 2: Big Game Hunters branded Triple Mud Kitchen Children’s Toys, sold with a product code of 383 and a UPC of 5035874001469. Affected products were purchased by and shipped prior to January 1, 2021.
    • The Triple Mud Kitchen (also known as “Mud Kitchen XL”) is a children’s outdoor play kitchen made of untreated/unpainted natural wood and with a plastic wash tub, plastic water dispenser, pretend stove and oven, slide out counter and a brass water tap (to attach a garden hose). The Triple Mud Kitchen was packaged in brown cardboard packaging (two boxes in total) with Big Game Hunters branding.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Big Game Hunters Mud Kitchens Children’s Toys are thought to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces although it is always possible these Children’s Toy products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

The company reported a total of 187 units of the affected product were sold in Canada, 133 units of the Single Mud Kitchen and 54 units of the Triple Mud Kitchen model.

According to Health Canada, testing performed has showed that the brass Kitchen Taps on the Single and Triple Mud Kitchen Toys contain Lead in excess of the allowable limits as defined in Canada’s Consumer Products Containing Lead Regulations and pose risks to the health of children who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Triple Mud Kitchen Children’s Toys, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly remove the brass tap set and dispose of it safely. You can also contact DOM Sports concerning a full or partial refund.

Due to suspected Lead contamination, disposal of this product must be in accordance with local municipal hazardous waste requirements to protect your personal safety, the local drinking water supply and the ecosystem. Please consult your local municipal waste authority for the correct steps for your particular community.
