Logo - Daimler Vans USADaimler Vans USA, LLC (“DVUSA”), a Centennial, Colorado establishment and a subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 33,437 model year 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System, Back Over Prevention – MBUX System Software malfunction

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V411000 reports the MBUX Multimedia System Software may cause the display to remain black, or reboot after startup. This could result in the Rearview Camera image not displaying properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, “Rear Visibility”.

According to the NHTSA, a Backup Camera that displays a blank image reduces the driver’s rear view, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results..

Logo - Mercedes-Benz==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
