US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Smilin’ Bob’s, a Summerland Key, Florida establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Smilin’ Bob’s Original Smoked Fish Dip and Smilin’ Bob’s All Natural Smoked Fish Dip from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fish Dip products are subject to this recall:

  • 878 – 12 tub cases of Smilin’ Bob’s Key West Style Original Smoked Fish Dip, packaged in 8-ounce round plastic tubs with distribution dates of May 24 2021 or June 4 2021 and best-if-used-by dates of Aug 03 2021 or Aug 10 2021
  • 335 – 12 tub cases of Smilin’ Bob’s Key West Style Original Smoked Fish Dip, packaged in 15.5-ounce round plastic tubs with distribution dates of May 27 2021, May 25 2021 or May 31 2021 and best-if-used-by dates of Aug 03 2021 or Aug 10 2021
  • 48 – 12 tub cases of Smilin’ Bob’s All Natural Smoked Fish Dip, packaged in 8-ounce round plastic tubs with a distribution date of June 4 2021 and a best-if-used-by date of Aug 10 2021

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Smoked Fish Dip products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Smilin’ Bob’s has recalled certain batch/lots of Smilin’ Bob’s Original Smoked Fish Dip and Smilin’ Bob’s All Natural Smoked Fish Dip products due to suspected contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall was initiated as a result of Banner Smoked Fish’s earlier recall of its Smoked Fish products also due to suspected contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Banner Smoked Fish is a primary ingredient supplier to Smilin’ Bob’s, which used the recalled smoked fish in its Smilin’ Bob’s branded Smoked Fish Dip products identified above.

As a result of this reported bacterial contamination, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Smilin’ Bob’s branded Smoked Fish Dip products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Smoked Fish Dip, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Smoked Fish Dip to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial such as Listeriosis.
