The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cheese products are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Kingsey branded Tortillon Cheese, sold in 50 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, a best-before date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 0 69104 00365 2
  • L’fro branded Salted Twist Cheese, sold in 50 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, an expiry date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 0 59851 10208 1
  • Perron branded Tortillon Barbecue Cheese, sold in 50 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, a best-before date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 7 72622 73060 2
  • Perron branded Tortillon Cheese, sold in 50 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, a best-before date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 7 72622 70025 4
  • Princesse branded Tortillon Cheese, sold in 150 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, a best-before date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 0 69104 10229 4
  • Tortillo branded Tortillo Cheese Barbecue, sold in 160 gram packages (consisting of eight by 20 g packages) with a batch/lot of 3124, an expiry date code of 02 AU 2021 and a UPC of 0 29222 03082 4
  • Tortillo branded Tortillo Cheese Barbecue, sold in 50 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, a best-before date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 6 29222 03002 4
  • Unbranded Tortillon Cheese, sold in 100 gram packages with a batch/lot of 3124, a best-before date code of 2021 AU 02 and a UPC of 6 29222 03100 7

These Tortillon Cheese products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Quebec although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Fromagerie Albert Perron has recalled certain batch/lots of Tortillon Cheese from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected metal fragment contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Cheese identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Tortillon Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and/or bowel obstruction.
