Among the seventy-four (74) recalls the NHTSA has announced this month, comes news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 17,800 model year 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz G550 SUVs and Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG SUVs marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Latches/Locks/Linkages – Latch may allow Rear Door to open while driving

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V353000 reports components within the Door Latch may prevent the Rear Doors from latching or opening properly.

According to the NHTSA, the Rear Door may appear closed even when the Latch is not fully engaged, allowing the Door to open while driving and increasing the risk of injury or a crash. Damaged Latch Components may prevent the Rear Door from being opened while inside the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury in case of crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Dealers will replace the Rear Door Latches, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 13, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Note: Vehicles repaired prior to this recall must return to dealers to have remedy performed. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
