Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”), an Ottawa, Ontario-based statutory regulatory and food safety authority, warns against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Metro Brands branded Enoki Mushrooms from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected of Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Enoki Mushroom products are subject to this recall:

  • Metro Brands (packed for) Enoki Mushrooms, sold in 99 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to and including May 14, 2021 with a UPC of 0 59749 94854 8

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CFIA, it has issued a warning against consuming certain batch/lots of Enoki Mushrooms from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Mushrooms identified above.

Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during March, April and/or May, 2021, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

The recalled Enoki Mushroom products are known to have been marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Quebec although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Enoki Mushroom products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Mushrooms to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
