US FlagUS/Washington: Kraft Heinz Foods Company, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa establishment, recalls an estimated 13,504 pounds of frozen foodservice Chef Francisco Soup products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling/mispackaging and consequential risks of undeclared Egg and Milk, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Soup products are subject to this recall:

  • Chef Francisco Minestrone Condensed Soup, a processed frozen soup product marketed, sold and delivered in four (4)-pound tubs with a “Chef Francisco Vegetable Beef and Barley Condensed Soup” label with lot code LD28120FT1 represented on the label. The product was distributed in 16-lb cases labeled as “Chef Francisco Minestrone Condensed Soup” with lot code LD28120FT1.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, NDCs, DINs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail / wholesale presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Soup products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the Soup products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 15818A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These foodservice items were shipped to hotels, restaurants, and institutions US nationwide. This recall was initiated after the firm received foodservice customer complaints that the product labeled as “Vegetable Beef and Barley Condensed Soup” actually contained the company’s “Minestrone Condensed Soup”, products made with ingredients that include the allergens Egg and Milk.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chef Francisco Soup products and could be allergic to their Egg and Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) is concerned that some of the recalled Soup products may be in the freezers of hotels, restaurants and other institutions. These businesses are urged not to serve the product. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
