US FlagUS/Washington: Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Company Inc., a Mebane, North Carolina establishment, recalls an estimated 226,000 Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms from the American marketplace due to suspected operational failure to warn residential occupants in the event of a fire and/or smoke incident with consequential risks of burns, scalds, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • The recalled units are Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 Smoke and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms. Only Alarms with the TruSense logo or “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the Alarm are included in this recall. The model number is printed on the back of the alarm.
    • Smoke Alarm, sold with a model number of 2040-DSR
    • Smoke Alarm, sold with a model number of 2050-DS10
    • Smoke Alarm, sold with a model number of 2060-ASR
    • Smoke Alarm, sold with a model number of 2070-VDSCR
    • Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm, sold with a model number of 2070-VASCR
    • Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm, sold with a model number of 2070-VDSR
    • Smoke Alarm, sold with a model number of 2070-VASR

==> No barcodes, UPCs, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Smoke Alarm and the combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm can fail to alert consumers to a fire when utilizing the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use
