Among the eighty-nine (89) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month, comes news of the following:

Logo - Nissan North America, Inc.Nissan North America, Inc. (“Nissan”), a Franklin, Tennessee establishment and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company of Yokohama, Japan has recalled an estimated 14,054 model year 2021 Nissan Rogue Compact Crossover Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – Missing Internal Bushing in Brake Caliper

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V286000 reports the rear left and/or right Brake Caliper Assemblies may be missing an Internal Bushing, allowing the O-ring Seal to move and Brake Fluid to leak.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of Brake Fluid may reduce braking performance, increasing the risk of crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Dealers will inspect and replace the left and/or right Rear Brake Calipers, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 10, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-867-7669 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Nissan’s designation for this recall is PC804.
