US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Pentair Water Pool and Spa Inc., a Sanford, North Carolina establishment, recalls an estimated total 4,721 StaRite and Mastertemp branded Pool Heaters (approximately 4,700 units in the US and an estimated 21 units in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected combustible air-gas mixture leakage with consequential risks of fire, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Pentair Water Pool and Spa StaRite and Mastertemp Pool Heaters, as follows:

  • Pentair Water Pool and Spa StaRite and Mastertemp Pool Heaters, consumer grade heating appliances marketed, sold and delivered in various styles and models with manufacturing dates ranging from December 22, 2020 to January 6, 2021. The manufacturing date, along with the specific model number, can be found on the serial number sticker on the Heater.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, a connection in the Heater can leak the combustible air-gas mixture. If this defect occurs, it poses a fire hazard with consequential risks of burns, scalds, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory failure, cardiac system collapse and/or property damage.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pool Heaters, please do not use them. Instead, kindly Pentair Water Pool and Spa for a free repair.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
