Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Peloton Tread+ Treadmilla with a model number of TR01.
- The recalled Treadmills have a running deck space of approximately 67 inches, a 32-inch high definition (“HD”) Touchscreen and a slatted belt. The Treadmill was originally launched as the Peloton Tread in 2018 but renamed Tread+ in September 2020. The Tread + model number “TR01” can be found printed on a black sticker located on the end cap in the front of the Treadmill Deck. The Treadmills have a Touchscreen and are black with the Peloton logo on the monitor and the side rails.
Please Note: This product is different from the Peloton Tread that is also subject to a voluntary recall in cooperation with the CPSC on May 5, 2021 because the Console on the Tread machine can detach and fall, posing a risk of injury to consumers.
When the CPSC earlier warned consumers against using this Treadmill, it was aware of thirty-nine (39) incidents including one (1) death. At that time, CPSC staff believed the Peloton Tread+ Exercise Machines posed serious risks to children for abrasions, fractures and death. In light of multiple reports of children becoming entrapped, pinned and pulled under the rear roller of the Exercise Machines, CPSC had urged consumers with children at home to stop using the product immediately.

Today’s company-generated recall follows this earlier warning from the CPSC. A 6-year-old child recently died after being pulled under the rear of the Treadmill. In addition, Peloton has reportedly received seventy-two (72) reports of adult Treadmill users, children, pets and/or objects being pulled under the rear of the Treadmill, including twenty-nine (29) reports of injuries to children such as second- and third-degree abrasions, broken bones and lacerations.
- You can report any Peloton Tread+ incidents to CPSC at http://www.SaferProducts.gov or to CPSC’s toll-free Hotline at 1-800-638-2772 during normal business hours, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”)
Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation.
==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
According to the CPSC, you should immediately stop using the recalled Tread+ and contact Peloton for a full refund, valid until November 6, 2022. If you return the Tread+ Treadmill after the November 6 date you will receive only a partial refund. Peloton is also offering consumers who do not want a refund the option of moving the Tread+ free of charge to a room where children or pets cannot access the Treadmill.
In addition, the company reports it is implementing software improvements to the Tread+ Treadmill product to automatically lock the Tread+ machine after each use and prevent unauthorized access. This will be accomplished by assigning a 4-digit passcode that will be required to unlock the Tread+ machine.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
