Among the eighty-four (84) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month, comes news of the following:

Logo - Porsche Cars North America, Inc.Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (“Porsche”), a division of Porsche AG, a Stuttgart, Germany establishment and subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, has recalled an estimated 1,568 model year 2021 Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne GTS, Cayenne Coupe, Cayenne S Coupe, Cayenne Turbo Coupe, and Cayenne GTS Coupe vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Suspension – Rear Axle Lock Nuts may break

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V271000 reports the Lock Nut on the Trailing Arm of the Rear Axle may break due to stress corrosion.

According to the NHTSA, a broken Lock Nut may misalign the Rear Axle, causing a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Porsche will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the Lock Nuts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 18, 2021. Owners may contact Porsche Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-767-7243 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Porsche’s designation for this recall is AMA9.
