Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Coles Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd., a Hawthorn East, Victoria, establishment recalls certain batch/lots of Coles branded Tasmanian Smoked Salmon Fish products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected incorrect best-by dates with consequential risks of spoilage, bacterial and/or viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Tasmanian Smoked Salmon products are subject to this recall:

  • Coles branded Tasmanian Smoked Salmon, a processed food product, marketed, sold and delivered in 150 gram flat vacuum pack with a use-by date code 07 April 2023 and an APN/EAN of 9310645312729

==> No barcodes, APNs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Coles branded Tasmanian Smoked Salmon products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in Coles Supermarkets located in Tasmania, Victoria (excluding Mildura stores), Western Australia and Coles Online. it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, you should not consume the recalled Coles Tasmanian Smoked Salmon products beyond the correct Use By date of 07 May 2021. You should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Smoked Salmon products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Tasmanian Smoked Salmon products, please do not use them past their true and correct best-before date (07 May 2021) directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial and/or viral poisonings.
