US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Faribault Foods, Inc., a Faribault, Minnesota establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of S&W branded Organic Black Beans, O Organic branded Organic Black Beans and O Organic branded Organic Chili Beans from the American marketplace due to possible Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following canned Beans are subject to this recall:

  • O Organic Organic branded Black Beans, a food product marketed, sold and delivered in 15 ounce cans with a best-by date code of FEB 03 2023 with a batch/lot of 981A 035 21 with distribution dates ranging from February 2021 to April 2021
  • O Organic Organic branded Chili Beans, a food product marketed, sold and delivered in 15 ounce cans with a best-by date code of FEB 04 2023 with a batch/lot of 978A 036 21 with distribution dates ranging from February 2021 to April 2021
  • S&W Organic branded Black Beans, a food product marketed, sold and delivered in 15 ounce cans with a best-by date code of JAN 31 2023 with a batch/lot of 1329A 032 21 with distribution dates ranging from February 2021 to April 2021
  • S&W Organic branded Black Beans, a food product marketed, sold and delivered in 15 ounce cans with a best-by date code of FEB 01 2023 with a batch/lot of 1329A 033 21 with distribution dates ranging from February 2021 to April 2021
  • S&W Organic branded Black Beans, a food product marketed, sold and delivered in 15 ounce cans with a best-by date code of FEB 02 2023 with a batch/lot of 1329A 034 21 with distribution dates ranging from February 2021 to April 2021
  • S&W Organic branded Black Beans, a food product marketed, sold and delivered in 15 ounce cans with a best-by date code of FEB 03 2023 with a batch/lot of 1329A 035 21 with distribution dates ranging from February 2021 to April 2021

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Black Bean and Chili Bean products may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Faribault Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of S&W Organic branded Organic Black Beans, O Organic branded Organic Black Beans and O Organic branded Organic Chili Beans because the cans may have a compromised hermetic seal. The compromised hermetic seal may affect can integrity and may cause the cans to leak, bloat or allow bacteria to grow inside the product which could lead to serious illness. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beans identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled S&W Organic branded Organic Black Beans, O Organic branded Organic Black Beans and O Organic branded Organic Chili Beans, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Beans to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
