Shufang branded KN95 Children’s Masks, marketed and sold as KN95-style filter masks delivered in packages of ten (10) masks with a batch/lot designation of YM200227 and a barcode of 6973078310033. This recall alert was submitted by Germany to the EU Safety Gateway.

These Shufang branded KN95 Children’s Masks are marketed, sold and delivered as consumer-grade protective masks designed to protect children and small adults from inhaling and/or expelling bacterial and/or viral particles that can transmit various diseases using the oral and/or nasal routes. The Masks are labelled as “for children” and were sold online, including from eBay.com.

No DINs, item numbers, best-before date codes, model numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards presented in these recalled Shufang branded KN95 Children’s Masks include the reported finding that particle/filter retention of the material used in the recalled Masks is insufficient (measured values: as low as 53%).

As a result of this defect, these Mask products reportedly do not fulfill European health and safety requirements as claimed by their packaging. Even if combined with other recommended measures, they may not properly protect the wearer against bacterial or viral hazards when utilizing the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.
