Among the sixty-five (65) recalls the NHTSA announced this month, comes news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 12,327 model year 2021 C-Class, E-Class, E-Class Coupe and Convertible, GLC, CLS, AMG GT 4-door Coupe and G-Class vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United State.

Recall Category: Seats, Air Bags, Seat Belts – Faulty Front Seat Position Switch

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V230000 reports a faulty Electrical Contact within the Seat Position Switch may prevent the Driver and Passenger Air Bags and Seat Belt Force Limiters from properly activating during a crash. A more complete list of specific vehicle models is as follows:

According to the NHTSA, Air Bags and Seat Belts that do not perform properly in a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event can increase the risk of serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the seat position switches, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 31, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
