US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Guan’s Mushroom Co., a Commerce, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Enoki Mushroom products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Enoki Mushroom products are subject to this recall:

  • Enoki Mushroom (Product of China), sold in 200 gram (7.05-ounce) shrink-wrapped packages written in English, Korean and French with a product code of RY3428A or RY3434A, a Guan’s logo in the front and a UPC of 810023170303. The product was known to have been shipped in a white cardboard boxes, each with 25 – 200 gram mushroom packages.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Enoki Mushroom products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of CA, NY and PA through produce distributors and wholesalers to retail stores US nationwide although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Guan’s Mushroom Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Enoki Mushroom products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Mushrooms identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Enoki Mushroom products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the mushrooms to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
