Ltd., a Richmond, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Heng Le branded Blanched Bitter Apricot products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected natural toxin Amygdalin contamination and consequential risks of acute Cyanide poisoning with headache, dizziness, fast heart rate, shortness of breath, vomiting, seizures, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest as well as long-term neurological problems, all serious health hazards requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Dried Apricot products are subject to this recall:

  • Heng Le branded Blanched Bitter Apricot, sold in 3 kilogram packages with a best-before date code of 2019 05 30 and a UPC of 6 970258 540013

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Blanched Apricot products may have been marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Topwin Trading has recalled certain batch/lots of Heng Le branded Blanched Bitter Apricot products products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected natural toxin Amygdalin contamination and consequential risks of acute Cyanide poisoning. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Raw Bitter Apricot Kernels identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Heng Le branded Blanched Bitter Apricot products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
