Kolapore Springs Smoked Trout Fish Recall [Canada]

Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: North Shore Specialty Foods, a Collingwood, Ontario establishment, expands its earlier recall for certain batch/lots of Kolapore Springs branded Smoked Trout Fish products from the Canadian marketplace to include North Shore branded Smoked Rainbow Trout Fish Fillets.

The original recall was initiated due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Smoked Trout Fish products are subject to this recall:

  • Kolapore Springs branded Smoked Trout, sold in variable sized packages; affected batch/lots: all best-before dates up to and including 2021 MR 31 and a UPC of 6 27987 16383 4
  • Kolapore Springs branded Smoked Trout – Peppercorn flavour, sold in variable sized packages; affected batch/lots: all best-before dates up to and including 2021 MR 31 and a UPC of 6 27987 16383 4
  • North Shore branded Smoked Rainbow Trout Fish Fillets, sold in variable sized packages; affected batch/lots: all best-before dates up to and including 2021 MR 31

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Smoked Trout Fish were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Ontario although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, North Shore Specialty Foods recalls certain batch/lots of Kolapore Springs branded Smoked Trout Fish products and North Shore branded Smoked Rainbow Trout Fish Fillets from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Smoked Trout Fish identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Botulism.
