US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Rise Baking Company, a York, Pennsylvania establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Harris Teeter branded Cookies and Creme Cakes as well as Dawn Food Products branded Vanilla Bean Waterfall Cakes from the American marketplace due to undeclared Hazelnuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Creme Cake products are subject to this recall:

  • Harris Teeter branded 8″ three-layer Cookies and Creme Cakes, sold in 48-ounce, clear plastic shell packages with batch/lots of Y0356 2/1001686863; YOR 1007 1/1001718406; YOR 1034 1/1001755913; YOR 1034 1/1001755914; or YOR 1035 1/1001755914
  • Dawn Food Products branded 7″ two-layer Vanilla Bean Waterfall Cakes, sold in 35-ounce, clear plastic shell packages with batch/lots of Y0189 1/1001552111 or Y0230 1/1001586399

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the Rise Baking Company has recalled certain batch/lots of Harris Teeter branded Cookies and Creme Cakes as well as Dawn Food Products branded Vanilla Bean Waterfall Cakes from the American marketplace due to undeclared Hazelnuts.

==> For information about Nut Allergy (including Peanuts and Tree Nuts such as Hazelnuts), please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab at the top of this page.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Harris Teeter branded Cookies and Creme Cakes or Dawn Food Products branded Vanilla Bean Waterfall Cakes and could be allergic to their Hazelnut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
