US FlagUS/Washington: Avanza Pasta Recall [US]Avanza Pasta, LLC, an Evanston, Illinois establishment, recalls an estimated 2,237 pounds of Ambrosino’s; Avanza Pasta; Calabria Imports; Conte Di Savoia; Countryside Fresh Markets; Frank’s Deli; Frankie’s Deli; Fratello’s; Gene’s; Marketplace On Oakton; Minelli Meat & Delis; Nature’s Best; Piatto Pronto; Prisco’s Family Market; S&T Provisions; Tony’s Italian Deli & Subs; Vesuvio Bakery and Deli; and Zeppe’s Italian Market-branded Meat and Poultry Pasta products from the American marketplace due to suspected production without the benefit of Federal Inspection with consequential risks of bacterial contamination, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Meat and Poultry Pasta products are thought to have been produced on various dates ranging from October 5, 2019 through March 12, 2021 and are subject to this recall:

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Meat and Poultry Pasta products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in restaurants, distributors and retail locations in the US states of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall do not bear an establishment number nor the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to restaurants, distributors, and retail locations in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) during in-commerce surveillance activities. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Meat and Poultry Pasta products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Please note: many of these Beef and Lamb products are thought to be no longer available in the retail channel, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products in the period ranging from October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the subject Meat and Poultry Pasta products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
