Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Saputo Dairy Products Canada GP, a Saint-Laurent, Québec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Woolwich branded Soft Fresh Goat Cheese – Fig & Balsamic flavour from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected stone fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Soft Fresh Goat Cheese products are subject to this recall:

  • Woolwich Soft Fresh Goat Cheese – Fig & Balsamic flavour, sold in 113 gram log package; affected batch/lots: all codes up to and including 034A1 2021 JL 07 with a UPC of 0 62482 00154 8

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Soft Fresh Goat Cheese are thought to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces and territories although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Saputo Dairy Products Canada GP has recalled certain batch/lots of Woolwich branded Soft Fresh Goat Cheese – Fig & Balsamic flavour from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected stone fragment contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Goat Cheese products identified above.

In general, if glass, stone or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.
