Among the fifty-eight (58) recalls the NHTSA has announced this month, comes news of the following:

Logo - Ford Motor CompanyFord Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 2,602,668 model year 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Air Bags – Driver’s Air Bag Inflator may explode

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V158000 reports the Driver’s Side Air Bag Inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Logo - LincolnAccording to the NHTSA, an Inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results including death.

Logo - Mercury==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Ford will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the Driver-Side Airbag Inflator or Module with an alternate one, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Ford’s designation for this recall is 21S12.
