Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Hehongdaan (Australia) Pty Ltd, an Auburn, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of XZL Flavour Jelly Cups products from the Australian marketplace due to the presence of Konjac, an ingredient not permitted in Jelly Confectionery Products in Australia due to the risk of choking and/or airway obstruction, both serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Jelly Cup confectionery products are subject to this recall:

  • XZL Flavour Jelly Cups, consisting of mini jelly cups, marketed and sold as confectionery in 360 gram packages with a production date of 24/09/2020 and a best-before date of 23/09/2021

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, Jelly Cups and similar products containing Konjac are permanently banned in Australia due to choking risk. Konjac does not dissolve easily when eaten: if a jelly lodges in a person’s throat, it can act as a “plug” that can restrict or completely cut off air supply.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Konjac XZL Flavour Jelly Cup products please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
