Canada/Ottawa: Laboratoire Riva Inc., a Blainville, Quebec establishment, recalls an estimated two (2) batch/lots of Riva branded Senna Laxative Tablets from the Canadian marketplace due to undisclosed microbial contamination and consequential severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Senna Laxative Tablets products are subject to this recall:

  • Riva branded Senna Laxative Tablets, sold in 100-count 8.6 mg tablets in white plastic bottles with a NPN of 80079605 and batch/lot designations of C9718
  • Riva branded Senna Laxative Tablets, sold in 1000-count 8.6 mg tablets in white plastic bottles with a NPN of 80079605 and batch/lot designations of C9719

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Riva branded Senna Laxative Tablets were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec although it is always possible these drug products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, Laboratoire Riva has recalled two (2) batch/lots of Riva branded Senna Laxative Tablets from the Canadian marketplace due to undisclosed microbial contamination and bacterial infection risks to people who utilize the drug product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Riva branded Senna Laxative Tablets, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
