US FlagUS/Silver Spring: The Quaker Oats Company, a Chicago, Illinois establishment and subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc. of Purchase, New York, recalls an estimated 4,550 bags of Quaker branded Rice Crisps from the American marketplace due to undeclared Soy, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following snack foods are subject to this recall:

  • Quaker Rice Crisps Sweet Barbecue Flavor, sold in 3.03 ounce bags with a best-before date of MAY29213M21 and a UPC of 0 30000 31984 0

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Quaker Rice Crisps were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and Washington although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, The Quaker Oats Company has recalled an estimated 4,550 bags of Quaker branded Rice Crisps from the American marketplace due to undeclared Soy.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Quaker Rice Crisps and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
