US NHTSA Recalls: Cooper Tire Adventurer Tires

Among the eighty-four (84) recalls the NHTSA announced last month, came news of the following:

Logo - Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (“Cooper Tire”), a Findlay, Ohio establishment, has recalled an estimated 430,298 model year Adventurer, Back Country, Big O, Courser, Deegan, Discoverer, Evolution, Hercules and Multi-Mile Wild Country branded Tires.

Recall Category: Tires – Tire Sidewall separation

NHTSA Safety Notification 21T002000 reports the recalled Tires may develop a bulge or separation in the Sidewall.

According to the NHTSA, a Sidewall separation may cause the Tire to rapidly deflate, possibly suddenly and without warning while driving, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Cooper Tire will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace affected Tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 25, 2021. Owners may contact Cooper Tire Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-854-6288 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Cooper Tire’s designation for this recall is 178.
